Jaw Surgery
01. Diagnosis and planning
Planning for maxillofacial surgery begins with a year-long orthodontic treatment. During this phase, the burden falls on the orthodontist to carry out a facial study based on X-rays, photographs and models of the teeth. After this, he/she will make the appropriate measurements and calculations, which he/she will present to the surgeon.

Surgical Intervention
The surgery lasts four hours and is performed under general anesthesia. In order not to leave visible scars, it is performed through intraoral incisions.

Posoperative Period
After surgery, it takes the patient approximately one month to fully resume his or her normal routine. During the first few days, there will be facial swelling and you will find it difficult to eat, speak and perform physical activities.

Follow-up and orthodontics
Once the surgery has been performed and the postoperative period is over, the patient will have to continue with orthodontic treatment for two more years.
